November 22, 2002-Dearborn, MI-This is a great time to be in the Macintosh world. A major revision of the Mac OS X operating system and many new tools provide a powerful foundation waiting to be exploited by developers. MacHack: The Annual Conference For Developers, By Developers is the premier forum for Mac OS developers to discuss, upgrade and show off their skills.

As always, MacHack sessions provide insight into a variety of topics aimed at the technically astute. And as always, marketers will remain at home.

MacHack solicits and accepts sessions on a wide variety of topics related to software and hardware development. Speakers for accepted sessions receive a discount for admission to the conference.

The MacHack session planners have laid out seven categories that cater to a range of interests:

MacHack sessions typically run about an hour. Speakers present to a "hands on" audience, an audience ready to test new ideas and try them out. For that reason, supporting code examples are strongly encouraged. While many new technologies are commercial, MacHack strongly discourages overt marketing.

Submit session ideas, outlines and proposals by February 1, 2003 at http://www.machack.com/sessionssubmission.php or link through from the main page. Speakers will be notified as their proposals are accepted. Don't worry too much about falling strictly within the category boundaries. Categories will be bound at run-time.

MacHack 18 will take place June 19-21, 2003, in Dearborn, Michigan. More information is available on the Web from http://www.machack.com/.

For attendees, registration discounts are available for early action. Full attendees can register online for $450 (before 02/28/03), a savings of $100 off the regular registration rate. Students can register for $50 which includes access to the entire conference. Total attendance is limited to 400. Student attendance is limited to 50. More details are available on the conference website.
